I did it yesterday - I bought a new car. The old car was just fell apart too much. I was lucky to be able to drive it to the dealer!

Actually, my brother prodded me and took me to the dealership and I did find a car I like: Ford Focus ZX4. Pitch-black color, air, 4-door, 5-speed manual, rated 34 mpg highway. I know, it's a FORD but it drove well, it's quiet, manuvers well, and held up in the rain (more on that later). So I'm the only and last American that is still buying American products.

It was a little on the high end for my budget, and my poor credit rating didn't help much, but I couldn't go anymore with the old Escort. It wasn't going to make it through the summer.

The dealership did fill up the gas tank before I left though (14 gal compacity), so with the price of gasoline that alone has to be good for the first month's car payment!

With this car I finally move into the 21st century by having a CD player and a rear window defogger. I don't really need a CD-player since I listen to Rush Limbaugh all the time, but I'll have the player on the weekends when Rush isn't on. ;-)

After I got the car, we had severe thunderstorms in our area. I was in Giant Eagle at the bank there when all the sudden all the lights went out in the store; it was totally pitch dark in there. It lasted for about 5 - 10 seconds then the lights come on. About 5 seconds after that we all heard the biggest rumble of thunder I have heard in quite a long time; it even shook the floor. It definitely scares the bejesus out of you.

The bad part was the storm bumped the bank off it's network. I couldn't do my banking after that - even their ATMs were down. So I bought some cereal and milk and got some money thru the checkout since they were up. And of course it rained hard after all that, so my new car got a complete washing.

YAY for a new car! I know you have been needing one so that is so awesome!

It has been storming here too. It really cooled it off from the temps at the first of the week.

This morning we have fog, thick as pea soup!

I'm very tempted to drive down to Texas to give you, Eth, and Hannah a test drive, but I have to go to DC next week for a Log Cabin leadership conference and Lobby Day. I'll be close to BoyWonder!

Mark is down in Florida this coming week, going to Disney with his sister, brother in law, and his niece and nephew.
I bet your car is a sporty thang!

The car is all black but has no spoiler. Still doesn't look bad.

I just made a post about Mark. Too bad he's not going to be in town.

I hope he can afford some Mouse Ears for us! :-)
