The idiot liberal French news agency AFP Agence France-Presse is trying to put the American and worldwide liberal view of the United States in its usual dark light:
Race relations still tense a year after Katrina

The chaos following Hurricane Katrina showed millions of Americans that deep racial divides, poverty and racism persist in their country...

More than 140 years after the abolition of slavery, and more than 40 years since the passage of the civil rights act, New Orleans remained a highly segregated city. Blacks held significant political power, but economic power remained the domain of whites.

It's an amazing revealing story in that it exposes how liberals and Leftists view America: the land of hate and racism. Liberals couldn't say one thing good about America if their life or if any other Americans life depended on it.

Please keep in mind that DEMOCRATS run the city of New Orleans and the state of Louisiana. New Orleans should be a liberal's paradise before and after Katrina, but liberalism only plays the blame game, bringining their baggage of more sorrow and grief - and always making a bad situation worse.

I am sorry to random post a reply but living in the UK I can say that it is not just France that views it in light that Katrina highlighted latent racism in Louisiana.

An article in The Times today showed how reconstruction was happening faster in the 'whiter' parts of New Orleans, they use the areas of Lower Ninth Ward and Lake View. I have pasted a link to the article for you if you wish to read how a European slightly right of centre newspaper is showing the event's aftermath. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,3-2329602,00.html

Also the British Press was highlighting at the time of the event how there appeared more White People leaving the city than black. Also as the city is nearing the anniversary of the event The Times at least has been looking at New Orleans and the response of the Federal Government. Here is another link from The Times newspaper on the regional flood defences.

Please note however it is not only the US government which can be short sighted the UK governemnt has recently cut back on flood defences for the entire nation by $28 million.

Reading your comment however it looked more that you are annoyed that Liberals and Left-Wingers cannot see the good of America, or if they do they cannot say it. Unfortunately at the moment on this side of the Atlantic and on the Continent in particular there is a fondness for America bashing. If you want something to pick yourselves up, just remember that Italy has managed to embarrass and France by stating that as she would be sending 3000 troops to Lebanon and France only 400 she should command the force. France has since said she will now send 2000. To America it might not seem important but France has seen Lebanon a bit like America saw Central America and the Monroe Doctrine, and for the threat to come form Italy is an afront to French sensibilities.
