Hello It's Me!

I did have a busy week last week. I worked at the polls, the voting booth last week. I was an electronic vote technician, for the touch screen machines. It wasn't too bad. On Monday night, you have to plug in the voting machines so they can charge up overnight and check you have everything you should have. Tuesday morning you have to be there by 5:30 in the morning, setting up the voting machines the rest of the way. It's like a Chinese fire drill because at the polling location I was at there was 2 other techs there also. Overkill. And of course everybody knows how to do everything, to some degree. I just had a class a couple of weeks ago about the machines so a few mistakes were avoided.

There were 5 voting precincts at our location with 17 voting machines. No Waiting! This low-turnout election is considered practice run for the elections next year, with the primary being on March 4th in Ohio. It's practice for me too since it was my first time with the new touch screen machines. The main problem our county board of elections had was the server that does the counting downtown kept freezing up. The results were not finalized until 11:30 am the next day.

I'll probably work the elections next year. The county pays $250 (before taxes) for going to class, being at the polling location Monday night for an hour and a half, and then being at the polling location from 5:30 am to 8:30 pm on election day. The county was having county workers take the day off, get paid for their usual pay, and then get paid for working the polls. I figure I can do that on my regular job taking a scheduled day off and work the polls too!

It should be very busy next year when most people vote Giuliani for president. ;-)

I did virtually nothing this weekend. Heaven knows I have alot to do. And i have been eating like a pig lately. No more Weight Watchers for me. I can't concentrate on a diet anyhow. My only other day off this week is Thursday since it's my turn to work the weekend. However, I do have next Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday off during Turkey week, so it's not too bad.

Cleveland sport teams suck; just cannot cement victory when they're ahead. Cleveland lost to the Steelers again. Cavs, Indians, Browns: "Next Year..."
