Great start to June...

Got into an auto accident this morning while trying to get to work. Or more accurately, I caused one.

I was driving out of my apartment parking lot, and I didn't see anybody coming down the road. I sometimes have trouble seeing cars driving down the street because of the cars parking on my side of the road, and there's a slight bend in the road. Sometimes, I think people go too fast on that road, but that's another debate. Anyhow I pull out and this lady swerves to avoid hitting me - and she hits a fire hydrant.

No damage to my car, but she hit the fire hydrant head-on, smashing in the front of her car and leaking radiator fluid. I called the police to file a report - and end up get sighted for not yielding right-of-way. Thank God the lady wasn't hurt but her car had to be towed away. So I got to deal with a traffic ticket and see if I can waiver and just pay the fine, there's a lady with a disabled car, and a city fire hydrant that is slightly leaning.

I'll call my Allstate agent tomorrow. It's not exactly a "claim" because nothing happenned to me or my property, but it did happen around me which in the eyes of the insurance campany usually is not good.

Oh, it's a claim, alright!

Ultimately, if no one is injured, it's not so bad.

It could have been a lot worse. Also, you didn't actually hit the lady's car, which surely helps your case.
